By goddess Saraswati’s blessings Pt. Ashish Narayan Tripathi is currently under the tutelage of Padmabhushan Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra, Padmashri Pt. Umakant & Ramakant Gundecha and Sh. Ritesh & Rajnish Mishra. However, in the past he has had the good fortunate of studying under the tutelage of many other greats of Hindustani Sangeet like Dr. Manjari Tiwari, Pt. Vidur Mallik (Darbanga Gharana), Pt. Rameshwar Prasad Mishra (Banaras Gharana), Pt. Dharamnath Mishra (Banaras Gharana) & Dr. Tej Singh Taak (eminent musicologist of Bhatkhande University, Lucknow). He is undoubtedly one of the most talented Khayaal vocalists of his generation. As evident by his training he uses the influence of both Khayaal and Dhrupad to produce something unique. With a voice range spanning three and a half octaves he is able to skillfully present Khayaal, Thumri, Dadra, Tappa, Ghazal, Bhajan etc. with equal finesse. Not only does he bring a very deep understanding of theoretical structure of a raga to his music but also backs it up with an astounding aesthetic appeal. However, he chooses to remain elusive so that he can concentrate more on his own Riyaaz and teaching his disciples in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara.
